I have decided to start writing a weekly series simply titled "The deGrom Weekly Update". This will strictly be on Jacob deGrom and his historic season so far. Each post will include results of his previous outings, who he faces in the given week, and my predictions of how he will perform. I do not know how I have not thought of this idea before, but I want to be able to remember his historic season in some way. This is something that has to be typed out, so I am going to make it happen!
Note: All stats are through the week of June 6th

Current Jake News:
deGrom went up against the Padres on Friday, June 11th in his last outing, limiting them to one hit over six scoreless frames with 10 strikeouts. He was pulled after 80 pitches because of right elbow tendinitis. After giving himself a "ligament test" on his right elbow, deGrom threw his normal bullpen session in between starts on Monday, June 14th. He could be on a pitch limit, but he is scheduled to go up against the Cubs on Wednesday, June 16th.
Outing Outlook: Jake looks to improve to 7-2 on Wednesday night under the bright lights in Flushing. Facing a Chicago lineup who only has one hitter hitting above this season,(Patrick Wisdom) deGrom looks to continue his "deGrominance". I only worry about how long he will go because of the aforementioned injury scare to his legendary right elbow, at least this proves he is human like the rest of us.
Jacob deGrom's Next Scheduled Start: Wednesday June 16th, vs. Chicago Cubs
deGrom's Opponent: Robert Stock-RHP: One can only pray for Stock as he got the callup from Triple-A Iowa and as a result, he will be making his Cubs debut. Personally if I were Stock, I would ask to go back to the minors as soon as possible because there is no way I would even want to look at deGrom as he jogs out to the mound with his walkout song, Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd playing over the loud speakers.
How the Cubs Matchup In Their Career Against deGrom:
Javier Baez- .214 AVG over 14 AB
Kris Bryant- .333 AVG over 15 AB with 1 HR
Willson Contreras- .000 BA over 7 AB
Ian Happ- Has not previously faced deGrom
Jason Heyward- .333 BA over 18 AB
Jose Lobaton- .600 BA over 5 AB
Jake Marisnick- Has not previously faced deGrom
Rafael Ortega- .200 BA over 5 AB
Joc Pederson- .294 BA over 17 AB
Anthony Rizzo- .500 BA over 14 AB
Eric Sogard- 1 PA (resulted in a walk)
Patrick Wisdom- Has not previously faced deGrom.
My Prediction: Since deGrom will most likely be on a pitch count, I can see him going 6 innings at the most. The great deGrom will strike out 9 and may give up one run. Entering Wednesday's start, he is on a 22 scoreless inning streak.
My Predicted Stat Line: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO
Batting Line: 1-2 with a single
Final Thoughts: Being able to throw a slider at 95 MPH in Friday's outing is something I have never seen before from a starting pitcher or any pitcher for that matter. deGrom is truly one of one and we are watching one of the best to ever do it. Good luck Chicago, you are going to need it!
See you at the Ballpark!!!
Adam
