Cole Signs Record Deal with Yankees

Gerrit Cole and the Yankees agreed to a 9 year 324 million dollar contract on Tuesday. Cole's agent Scott Boras can now say that he has reached the milestone of reaching a record breaking deal with an ace pitcher including the longest contract length of 9 years. Now that Cole is signed to a team, will he produce in the Bronx?

I believe Cole will be outstanding with the Yankees, considering this is where he will be pitching until he is in his late 30's, one has to believe this was the right spot for him to land. I was somewhat surprised to see him leave the Astros because of what they had accomplished last season, but at the same time I wasn't shocked that the Yankees ended up getting the golden arm. Cole joins a rotation who already had depth before Cole signed. The rotation should shape up with Cole at the top, followed by Tanaka, a healthy Luis Severino, and James Paxton. The offense is just as good, with Judge, a healthy Stanton, and Gleyber Torres leading the way. The Yankees should be one of the frontrunners in the AL and one of the favorites to win the World Series next season. It would be surprising if they were not the AL representative in the World Series next year. The Yankees have all the pieces to win a championship, now can they just put those pieces together and bring a championship back to the Bronx? Time will tell.
