Monday Night Showdown In The City of Angels

Can Lamar Jackson and the Ravens prevail against Todd Gurley and the Rams on Monday night?

The high powered Ravens offense will have their hands full Monday night against the Rams defense on Monday. Lamar Jackson is on an historic pace, he is on track to have the most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history. Jackson, a product of Louisville has proven he is the real deal and is making a case for being the best quarterback selected out of the 2018 draft class. He has made the Ravens a top contender in the AFC, by winning against the Patriots and beating the Texans last week in a 41-7 rout. The key to the Ravens offensive success, is simply the run game. Baltimore averages the most rushing yards per game this season, which is not a surprise considering Jackson is a running quarterback. There is of course more than just Jackson that's making the Ravens engine run. The Ravens secondary is one of the best in the league, consisting of Earl Thomas, Marlon Humphrey, and Marcus Peters who they picked up earlier in the season. Baltimore's linebackers are not bad either, led by Matthew Judon who has 6 sacks in the first 11 weeks of the season.

The Rams are in a tough situation, considering how good they were last season. Los Angeles is currently 3rd in the NFC West with a record of 6-4. Todd Gurley seems to have finally found his way back to the Gurley we all know and love after having knee problems, rushing for over 100 yards last week against a stout Bears defense. Cooper Kupp has emerged as one of Jared Goff's top targets after tearing his ACL last season, Robert Woods production has gone down to where it was last season, and Brandin Cooks is having an injury filled season. On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams picked up Jalen Ramsey after he requested to be traded by the Jaguars. Aaron Donald is still a force on the defensive line and is one of the best players in the league.

The game plan for the Rams should be all about stopping Lamar Jackson and Baltimore's run game. If the Rams can stop the run game, they will have a good shot of winning at home. I think the Ravens are too much on a roll to lose this game, even though they are on the road.

Prediction: Lamar Jackson continues his dominance, Ravens win 26-23
